Yamaha Virago XV and V Star
Everything XV
The History of Yamaha’s Virago XV
Yamaha began production on the Virago in 1981 as their first V-twin cruiser style motorcycle. They gained popularity so fast that even the legendary Harley-Davidson became nervous.
The first Virago had a 750 cc engine before Yamaha later added 500 cc and 920 cc models. The early success even spurred US-based motorcycle brands to push for tariffs on imported bikes with engines over 700 cc.
Yamaha stuck with it and continued the Virago line, eventually renaming it the V Star.
Today, the Virago XV250 is known as the V Star 250.
The V Star 250 is a wonderful platform right out of the box. If you’ve customized yours, we’d love to see and share your work. Tell us your inspiration and process.
